Dr. Lavi is an educational psychologist and a psychotherapist. She has conducted researches and treats populations exposed to trauma in the context of war and terror for over 20 years. Dr. Lavi deals with the psychological consequences of exposure to terror and war on individuals, families and communities, as well as the cultural aspects of emotional trauma. Her dissertation, in the Department of Psychology of Tel Aviv University, focused on the implications of the Intifada on Jewish and Palestinian children on both sides of the border. She previously worked on treatment and research at the Center for Resilience and at the Educational Psychological Services in Sderot and Sha'ar Hanegev.
